On October 9th, 2024, the Miskolc Business Club hosted an inspiring event with special guests from South Africa's North-West University. We were honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Tshediso Joseph Sekhampu (Director of the NWU Business School) and Prof. Dr. Joseph Lekunze (Research Manager and PhD Programme Leader, NWU Business School), who shared their unique insights into the world of business and academia.
On 16 April 2024, we held another Business Club event in English, where two American-born businessmen spoke about their personal successes. The meeting lasted more than two hours and included a wide range of questions from Hungarian and foreign students, to which the special guests - Alan Woodall Californian businessman, contracted partner of the US Government, former advisor of President Nixon in the White House & Mitchell NewDelman US-born investor currently living in Monaco, expert in patent exploitation - were happy to respond.
On 06 December 2023, a Hungarian-language presentation was held at the Business Club. Our guest was József Lipták, retired deputy CEO of Aegon (now Alfa) Insurance, who is now a retired mentor at the company. Mr. Lipták gave a 50-minute presentation on career planning, starting a business and taking advantage of different opportunities, followed by a series of questions. The students who attended, who incidentally also want to start a business themselves, received a lot of useful practical advice and were very satisfied because this was exactly the advice they needed to move forward.
On 11 December 2023, the Business Club held its last English-language meeting of the year. Our guest this time was Jean Pierre Polanen Chemical Engineer, MBA, CPSM® Former Nestlé Operations Executive University Lecturer & Lean Consultant Author of the book 'Transform Your World' (2020). Mr Polanen gave a comprehensive presentation on his international career, highlighting both the success factors and the mistakes he has made. He gave the audience a lot of good advice on how to move forward in their careers. Mr Polanen answered questions for 45 (!) minutes. And the audience of international students from the University of Miskolc was very pleased with the information he gave them, as they found it very useful for their careers.
The Orientation Day for international students took place on 12 September 2023. The joint programme in the morning was followed by the usual Faculty Orientations from 14:00, where our students were given a comprehensive briefing on their study programmes and issues affecting their studies.
Between 29 May and 3 June 2023, the University of Miskolc hosted nearly 40 foreign students who participated in two BIP programmes, one of which was entitled 'Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility' and the other 'Entrepreneurship: from idea to implementation', organised for the first time by the Faculty of Economics, supported by Erasmus+, and including online and in-person training.
From 15th to 20th May 2023, we hosted a delegation of four from the management of the North-West University of South Africa who visited us on Erasmus KA-107 mobility: Prof. Dan Metsileng, Director, School of Information System , Prof. Ntebo Moroke – Deputy dean Research and innovation , Prof. Anna-Marie Pelser – Director Global, Innovative, Forefront, Talent Management (GIFT) and Dr Dorcas Louisiana – Deputy-director, Industrial Psychology .
Within the framework of the strategic agreement with Granit Bank, on 11 May 2023, Dr. Zoltán Lehóczky, Advisor to the Chairman and CEO and Bence Ács, Retail Sales Representative, gave presentations in English and Hungarian to Hungarian and international students of the University of Miskolc at the Business Club on the topic "How digital innovations are changing our banking habits".
We were delighted to host a delegation from our most important Ukrainian strategic partner, the National Technical University Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute (NTU KhPI) in Miskolc between 1 and 5 May.
The Faculty of Economics, University of Miskolc, Hungary has the strategic goals of enhancing the practical orientation of its courses and fostering good relations with our partner companies, as well as integrating their labour market needs into our educational programmes. All these goals were achieved by the visit of our MBA students to the Joyson Safety Systems Hungary plant in Miskolc on 28 April 2023, during which 12 foreign and one Hungarian full-time MBA student visited the plant.
The University of Miskolc organised an International Week (Staff week) between 17-21 April 2023, where the Faculty of Economics was also represented.
On 29 March 2023, the Faculty of Economics, University of Miskol, Hungary held its 2023 opening meeting of the Business Club.
On 09 December 2022, the international students of the Faculty of Business and Economics organised a Business Quiz Night. The overall objective of this programme was to give MBA and PhD students an opportunity to come together and have fun solving business problems. The Kahoot quiz was about trademarks, taglines, logos and other business-related questions. All participants seemed to enjoy the whole event. Everyone is looking forward to meeting again at the next Quiz Night!
The Faculty of Economics is committed to enhancing international mobility. In order to achieve this strategic goal, we organised an Erasmus information event for our students on 28 September 2022, where they could learn about the benefits of mobility, the conditions of participation and hear colourful stories from students who already visited one of our partner universities in Italy and Finland. Our event ended with a very lively question and answer session. We hope that the participants will apply for a student mobility or an internship abroad program sooner or later!
A delegation of 5, from the University of Novi Sad, Serbia visited us in Miskolc on 03 October in the framework of a Ceepus project (https://www.ceepus.info/#nbb) 'Interdisciplinary approach for enhancing knowledge in supply chain analytics (SCAN)'. In a very productive meeting we have discussed project details and directions of our future collaboration, too.
We held our traditional annual farewell reception on 21 June. We said goodbye to our MBA and PhD graduates. We also created a new tradition on this day as our students received their graduating scarves. Thank you to everyone present for coming and thank you to our presenters for making our event more beautiful! We wish you every success! You're always welcome!
The University of Miskolc held the “1st International KA107 Week” between 25-29 April 2022 with 32 participants from 9 partner universities from 4 continents and 8 countries.
A team of the three students of the Faculty of Economics triumphed in the third CheckINN Tourism Innovation Competition. We congratulate them on this excellent achievement!
On 3 November 2021, the Miskolc Business Club held its next meeting, this time in English.Our guest was Mr. Gábor Lukács, who works as a Production Manager at Joyson Safety Systems, one of our faculty's key partner companies.
Between 16 and 18 October 2021, with the support and organisation of the ProSkill project, our university hosted the first 'János Zámbó International Case Study Competition', an international case study solving competition in English, where teams from universities in Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary could compare their skills in solving a complex problem in the fields of management and natural resources.
Miskolc Business Club held its first English-language meeting of the new semester on 6 October 2021. Our guest was Jean-Pierre Polanen, former Nestle factory manager, author of the book Transform Your World and 6th place rider in this year’s National Gallop.
The Faculty of Economics of the University of Oradea, Romania, in academic partnership with the Faculty of Economics of the University of Miskolc, Hungary, and with the support of the International Business School from Botevgrad, Bulgaria, and the Asociația Clusterul de cercetări științifice, inovare și studii europene din Oradea, is pleased to announce the 12th International Conference of PhD Students and Young Researchers on the theme "European Union and the challenges of economic development. The response of young researchers".
Another institution has been added to our extensive network of international partners. A cooperation agreement has recently been signed with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) in Moscow, which is the third highest-ranked university in Russia according to the Russian Ministry of Education (Lomonosov Moscow State University is ranked first, followed by St. Petersburg State University). RUDN also holds a top position (#317) in the QS World University Rankings and the EECA University Rankings (#43).

In addition to strengthening student and faculty mobility, the agreement also serves to promote joint research and teaching activities.
On 16 June, Miskolc Business Club held its next meeting, this time in English.

Our guest was John Arthurs, professional mentor and geologist. Professor Arthurs gave a short but effective presentation on the technical and personal aspects of mentoring, explaining the specificities of the field. After the presentation he answered a number of questions on mentoring, to the full satisfaction of the participants.

The event was organised in the framework of the EFOP 3.4.3-16-2016-00015 project "FŐNIX-ME" Renewable University Higher Education Institutional Development for the Joint Improvement of Quality and Accessibility of Higher Education.
Our partner, the Zagreb School of Economics and Management is offering an International Summer School program in person.
On 12 May 2021, the Business Club held its next meeting, this time in English. Our guest was Tamás Miklovicz, Project Officer at EFG (European Federation of Geologists).
On 28 April 2021, another event of Miskolc Business Club in English took place. We had a truly illustrious guest, Mr. Gábor Iván, Director, General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union and President of the Section of the European Union, Hungarian Economic Association.
University of Miskolc, along with 100 other higher education institutions in the world, has joined the “Solve Climate by 2030” initiative, launched by New York-based Bard College (http://www.solveclimateby2030.org/).
