The visit of a delegation from Nort-West University (NWU)

22. May 2023. 09:45
From 15th to 20th May 2023, we hosted a delegation of four from the management of the North-West University of South Africa who visited us on Erasmus KA-107 mobility: Prof. Dan Metsileng, Director, School of Information System , Prof. Ntebo Moroke – Deputy dean Research and innovation , Prof. Anna-Marie Pelser – Director Global, Innovative, Forefront, Talent Management (GIFT) and Dr Dorcas Louisiana – Deputy-director, Industrial Psychology .

NWU is our new partner, so this visit was mainly about getting to know each other and developing opportunities for future education and research cooperation. Among other things, we discussed the exchange of professors, the development of double-degree programmes, joint supervising PhD theses, joint publications, database exchange and, last but not least, even closer cooperation in the field of talent management, which was the area of greatest interest to our guests. This was also the main focus of the programme we designed for them. In this context, they had the opportunity to learn about our ProSkill project on talent management in a workshop and then visited the Ferenc Földes Grammar School, a pioneer in talent management in secondary schools, where the school's principal presented the school and its outstanding achievements in the field of talent management and student competitions.  In a talent management workshop, they got to know the leaders and students of Hantos College and had the opportunity to gain insight into the activities of the faculty's ongoing scientific student competitions. The delegation was also received by the senior management of our university: they met with Prof. Péter Szűcs, Vice-Rector for General and Scientific Affairs and Krisztina Sándor, Director of the Directorate for Scientific and International Relations, and had a detailed and lengthy discussion with the Dean of our faculty and the Vice-Dean for International Affairs.   In addition, they participated in the Miskolc Campus Forum Green and Smart business conference, where former President János Áder, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Blue Planet Climate Protection Foundation, Attila Steiner, State Secretary for Energy and Climate Policy (Ministry of Energy) and Dr. Marie-Theres Thiell, Curator (Universitas Miskolcinensis Foundation) discussed the Hungarian way to a sustainable future and the responsibility of green and smart development. In addition to the Campus tour, they also got to know the most important sights of our city and had the chance to get a glimpse of Hungarian gastronomy.  We look forward to welcoming back our guests - who have returned home with a wealth of experience and knowledge - as soon as possible!
